Come join us for a 5-mile loop hike through the woods! Boyd Big Tree is a conservation area that straddles Blue Mountain and is the habitat of large trees and home to deep forest birds such as warblers. The fields will hopefully be in bloom with wildflowers at this point in the summer. This will be a moderate hike with almost 800 feet of elevation gain.
Meet at the trailhead (can be seen from the only parking lot) at 10 am. We will start the hike at 10:10 am.
Dogs are welcome but must be friendly and leashed at all times.
Wear weather-appropriate clothing, sneakers or hiking boots, plenty of water (at least 2 liters) and snacks. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.
Optional– If you would like to carpool, meet in front of the Benjamin Olewine III Nature Center at Wildwood Lake at 9:40 am. We will leave promptly at 9:45 am. This is located at the end of Wildwood Way Harrisburg, PA 17110.
Contact Amy Moore via amymoore@howardhanna.com to RSVP and if you will be participating in the carpool. Your RSVP is strongly recommended so that you can be contacted if anything changes.
