HARRISBURG, Pa. (4/29/2025) – Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) proudly celebrated Earth Day with their 25th Annual Forster Street Cleanup, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and community pride. Despite early rain showers, 50 dedicated volunteers helped revitalize the median from 2nd Street to Commonwealth Avenue. Their efforts included planting over 200 perennials, trimming hedges, and removing trash and debris.
“I’m always inspired by the passion our volunteers bring to this project, but seeing so many people showed up in the rain to make a difference was truly moving,” said HYP Executive Director, Meghan Bachmore. “It speaks volumes about the pride our community takes in Harrisburg and the power of working together to create a more beautiful city.”
This year’s cleanup efforts were followed by an after-party at Zeroday Brewing Company to celebrate the hard work and dedication of the volunteers. Attendees enjoyed music, food, games, and camaraderie as they reflected on the day’s accomplishments and forged new connections within the community.
HYP’s City Living Committee Co-Chair, Erin Serre, said, “We are so grateful to our neighbors and fellow volunteers who helped us to make this year’s cleanup such a resounding success, even despite the challenging weather. Their efforts show that we can accomplish beautiful things when we work toward a common goal.”
The 25th Annual Forster St Cleanup not only beautified the local neighborhood but also served as a shining example of the positive impact that can be achieved through grassroots initiatives and community engagement. HYP extends their gratitude to all volunteers, sponsors, and partners who helped make this event a resounding success including Exclusive Platinum Sponsor: LCSWMA, Exclusive Block Party Sponsor: Zeroday Brewing Company, Bronze Sponsor: PPL, and Community Partners: Backdraft Excavating, Pursuit Coworking, the City of Harrisburg, PennDOT, and the Harrisburg Fire Bureau.
