HARRISBURG'S FUTURE STARTS HERE. JOIN HYP!

The final HYP group hike of 2016 will be on Saturday 11/12 at Flat Rock Trail in Colonel Denning State Park!

The hike is 2.5 miles up, 2.5 miles down and has an amazing view at the summit. More details on the trail here: https://www.visitcumberlandvalley.com/listings/Flat-Rock-Trail/1273/

A carpool will be gathering at City Island by the Parking Garage structure. The carpool will leave from there by 10AM so try to be there around 9:45AM. We can organize a carpool from the vehicles available there. Volunteers are welcome for this!

We will be driving to Colonel Denning State Park, address:

1599 Doubling Gap Rd, Newville, PA 17241

It is approximately a 1 hour drive from City Island. The route of the carpool will be City Island to 581 West, continue on 581 West for 7.3 miles, then to 81 South toward Carlisle for 22.4 miles, then taking exit 37 then a right turn to get on PA-233 for 13 miles. The destination is on the right. There are shorter ways there but this one lends itself best to keeping together a carpool.

You can meet us there at the above address or take another route if you wish. The hike will start around 11:15AM. The entrance to the hike is well marked and is blazed in red.

Please note that portions of the hike ARE DIFFICULT! It is steep for much of the first half of the hike. If you have health issues you should avoid this hike. We will take our time, and frequent stops will be made to collect our energy, but the view at the top will make it more than worthwhile! It is truly breathtaking. Sneakers or hiking boots are recommended. Bring a water bottle and a bite to enjoy at the top of the hike.

The event will proceed rain or shine.
