HARRISBURG'S FUTURE STARTS HERE. JOIN HYP!

The Peffer Street Edible Forest Garden is a hidden Harrisburg treasure you’ll love to check out! Come join the HYP City Beautification Committee at Peffer Street Garden on Saturday, October 2nd! We will be weeding and mulching the garden and helping to expose the buried sidewalk alongside the garden. Gloves and water bottles will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.

On Saturday, September 11th, HYP and the Appalachian Audubon Society will team up to help during Wildwood’s Volunteer Work Day and enjoy a beautiful bird walk along the path at Wildwood. The bird walk, guided by the Appalachian Audubon Society, will begin at 8:30 AM outside the Olewine Nature Center. We will enjoy the many diverse species of birds often found at the park, from waterfowl to songbirds. We will then participate in Wildwood’s Volunteer Work Day from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Wear comfortable work clothes and take a water bottle, and if you have a pair of binoculars,
bring them along for the bird walk.

Please RSVP if you plan to attend by pre-registering at https://explorewildwoodpark.org/event/volunteer-work-day-5/
An email RSVP to beautification@hyp.org is also suggested.

Come join fellow HYP volunteers for Wildheart Ministries’ Love the Hill summer clean-up series! The cleanup on Saturday, June, 26th will begin at 9am and will run until 3pm. There will be a barbeque lunch provided for all volunteers. Gloves and water bottles will be provided, but feel free to bring your own! Please email the City Beautification Committee at beautification@hyp.org to let us know if you’ll be joining the cleanup. Come out and help Love the Hill!

Please join us on September 24th, 25th, & 26th for the 22nd annual Forster Street Cleanup! This year, the event will be held over several days to encourage COVID-19 safety practices, but we will still be cleaning up litter, pulling weeds, and beautifying the same well-traveled gateway to Harrisburg. Please bring a mask, as well as gloves and a water bottle, if possible. Tools will be provided, but bringing your own will leave more for others. We encourage you to RSVP as soon as you can, as attendance may be capped for safety reasons.

Please join your fellow HYP members on the morning of April 28 for the 20th annual Forster Street Cleanup!

In 1998, HYP planted the first trees in the Forster Street median, and we have cared for it ever since. Come help us clean up litter, pull weeds, and beautify this well-traveled gateway to Harrisburg. Food, drink, gloves, and safety gear will be provided. Tools will be provided, but bringing your own will leave more for others. First 50 RSVPs receive a free event T-shirt.
