SUMMARY:HYP Book Club – “Normal People”
DESCRIPTION:Sally Rooney has been heralded as one of the next great young writers and the ‘first great millennial novelist’ (The New Yorker). She’s also considered to be great at writing about younger people (read: students at university). In her latest\, “Normal People\,” she writes about a boy and a girl with a history and power dynamic between their families\, who continue to stray apart and are drawn back together while at college in Dublin. It’s about class\, love\, family\, and friendship.  We meet in the back room (behind the children’s section) of the Midtown Scholar. Please RSVP and/or send questions to Joe Foner at joefoner1@gmail.com.  See you there\, and happy reading! \nSpecial Programming Note: Bookclub is going to the movies! Sort of.  On September 15\, Margaret Atwood is giving a 110-minute interview to coincide with the release of “The Testaments\,” the sequel to her acclaimed novel “The Handmaid’s Tale.”  Members from book club will be there in force to show support for this brilliant and creative author. The showing is at 7 pm at the Midtown Cinema as a part of a global broadcast.  Visit https://www.facebook.com/events/276909436486621/ or midtowncinema.com for more details.  Feel free to sign up on facebook (it’s a Midtown Cinema event)\, as Joe will be checking the page for book club members; you can also e-mail him at joefoner1@gmail.com to let him know you’re attending and to look for you there…
