SUMMARY:HYP Toastmasters Spring Into Public Speaking
DESCRIPTION:HYP Toastmasters will provide a comprehensive seminar on public speaking for a small group of 15 HYP members who wish to develop stronger communication skills. This course will take place in a learn-by-doing styled class where members will receive instruction from public speaking professionals then implement what they’ve learned by practicing in front of the class. Throughout the course\, participants will learn about various styles of speech\, body language and how to project their confidence.  \nThe program culminates in a prepared speech to be given in front of their peers. In addition to working on prepared speeches\, participants will work on Table Topics™\, which will develop your ability to “speak-on-your-feet” when responding to a question or scenario. Once the coursework and speech are completed\, participants receive an internationally recognized certificate in the fundamentals of professional public speaking.  \nOur course is specifically designed to enhance skills centered around the career goals of participants\, these skills include speech organization\, tone\, body language\, overall confidence and messaging. Participants will receive individualized instruction based off of their goals and supplemented by the Toastmasters Speech Craft curriculum.   \nParticipants who complete the seminar will be offered the opportunity to join HYP Toastmasters club at a discounted rate and would have earned credit for their first speech in the Toastmasters curriculum. \nInterested persons should email HYP Toastmasters at HYPToast@gmail.com\, with the completed application (click here). She began her career as an account executive before becoming the local sales manager for the Harrisburg CW station\, a position she held for 12 years. Since August 2016\, Megan served as the local station manager for all WHP’s on-air and digital properties before being promoted to General Sales Manager in April 2017. \nAs General Sales Manager\, Megan is responsible for increasing and maximizing revenue through on-air\, digital and non-traditional avenues and oversight of the WHP sales team. DESCRIPTION:HYP’s 2017 Professional Development series is pleased to have Michael Wilson from Member’s First and the Vineyard and Brewery at Hershey and Amma Johnson from Amma Jo LLC. to go over business dress the do’s and the do not’s. \n  \nBeing a successful business person comes with often having to wear many hats\, and one can only imagine the different hats and situations that comes with being the Vice President of Relationship Management during the day then a partner at one of the region’s most popular vineyards\, as well as a designer and an entrepreneur. \n  \nDifferent meetings often occur\, some inside the office\, on the golf course\, over drinks\, at a quick lunch\, the list is really endless. But the questions that is asked each and every time\, is what is appropriate to wear? Michael and Amma are going to go over best practices of dress and etiquette tips that they has picked up over the years. Areas of expertise include: organizational management; grants (researching\, writing and management); major gifts (local\, regional and national); event planning and execution; fund development; annual giving; planned giving; strategic planning; board relations; volunteer outreach/management as well as marketing\, branding\, promotions and communications. \nLikewise\, the environments in which Liz has built these skills extend from community-based service providers to international organizations addressing global concerns. \nTo date\, she has raised over $9.3 Million for various nonprofits. \nA Connecticut native\, Liz has lived all over the country – from North Carolina and California\, to Texas and Oklahoma City and feels that one of her strengths is her ability to communicate with and connect to people from all walks of life.  She currently lives near Harrisburg with her 18-year-old daughter – a budding and talented writer\, and their beast of a cat.
