It will begin on the Appalachian Trail\, initially passing through several flat farm fields and then up the mountain into the woods with about 650 feet of elevation gain. DESCRIPTION:Come join us for the first hike of 2021! Detweiler Park is a biologically diverse park consisting of 400 acres. The trails wind through gardens\, fields\, meadows\, evergreen plantations\, and mature deciduous forests.\n\nWe will hike a loop of 4.5 miles. This will be an easy to moderate hike depending on fitness level. Easy terrain and minimal elevation gain. Meet at the trailhead at 11 a.m.\n\nText Amy at 717-585-3312 if you would like to be texted a pin of the exact meeting point.\nThere is a free parking lot next to the trailhead.\n\nDogs are welcome but must be friendly and leashed at all times.\n\nWear weather-appropriate clothing\, sneakers\, or hiking boots and bring plenty of water/snacks. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.\n\nDue to COVID-19 there will be no carpooling. Please bring a mask to wear at any points during the walk where social distancing would not be possible. DESCRIPTION:RSVP FOR THE HIKE\nThe first HYP hike of 2018 will be at Clarence Schock Memorial Park at Governor Dick Environmental Center on Saturday\, June 30\, 2018. \nOur carpool group will meet at 10:00 AM in front of the parking garage at City Island\, will leave promptly at 10:30 AM\, arriving at the center at around 11:15 AM. Clarence Schock Memorial Park at Governor Dick is an 1105-acre stewardship forest and nature center nestled in the woods of Mt. Gretna\, Pa. The park has 15 miles of trails and features a 360-degree-view observation tower. We will hike a roughly 5-mile route to be determined by the group. \nPlease wear weather-appropriate clothing and suitable footwear. Packing some water and a light snack is also advised. Leashed dogs are welcome!

DESCRIPTION:Come out & join us for another HYP Hike! For this hike\, we will be hiking another section of the Appalachian Trail. We will be going from the Boiling Springs Tavern\, north on the Appalachian Trail & heading to Lisburn Road where we will then circle back and end back at the Tavern. This hike will be around 6 miles long and will take about 3 hours. The scale of difficulty for this hike is about a 2 out of 5\, 5 being the toughest/most difficult. This hike is beginner friendly & people are encouraged to bring water & snacks. \nAs usual\, we will be meeting ahead of time in the City Island parking lot (lot closest to the parking garage) at 10:00am to carpool over. We will leave promptly at 10:00am to arrive at the Boiling Springs Tavern at 10:30am to start the hike. This hike will be a little less than 6 miles long and will take about 3-3 ½ hours. The scale of difficulty for this hike is about a 3 out of 5\, 5 being the toughest/most difficult. There is a nice look out at the top & everyone is encouraged to bring snacks & water. \nEveryone will be meeting in the City Island parking lot (lot closest to the parking garage) at 10:30am. We will leave promptly at 10:30am to arrive at the trail at 11:00am. Parking is somewhat limited so carpooling is encouraged.
