SUMMARY:Great Harrisburg Litter Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Represent HYP in the 7th Annual Great Harrisburg Litter Cleanup! \nTo celebrate Earth Day\, hundreds of your neighbors will hit the streets with bags and gloves to make Harrisburg a cleaner place to live\, work\, and play. Last year\, over 300 volunteers removed over 23 tons of trash\, tires\, and e-waste from our capital city in a single day! With your help\, this community-wide event can be an even greater success. \nWork with volunteers around your neighborhood or join the HYP crew and Friends of Midtown crew as we help beautify the neighborhood! Don’t forget to wear your HYP gear! \nIndividuals register for the Cleanup via https://www.cactricounty.org/great-harrisburg-litter-cleanup/ and provide T-shirt size. We are asking HYP members to also RSVP via the HYP Facebook event page so we have a head count and can help coordinate volunteers in different neighborhoods.

SUMMARY:HYP Book Club – “Everything I Never Told You”
DESCRIPTION:The time is the 1970s; the place\, small-town Ohio. Two Chinese American parents are determined that their favorite daughter fulfill the dreams they couldn’t pursue.  But she’s found dead in the local lake\, and the bonds that were keeping the family together are suddenly frayed. “Everything I Never Told You\,” by Celeste Ng\, is a part family portrait\, part quest for understanding\, and a fully gripping read. Please join us as we read this New York Times bestseller and former Amazon Best Book of the Year. We meet in the back room (behind the children’s section) of the Midtown Scholar. Please RSVP and/or send questions to Joe Foner at joefoner1@gmail.com.  See you there\, and happy reading! \nProgramming Note: In addition\, we’re starting another challenge read. The challenge read is a separate book adventure\, whereby we pick a (much) longer book than usual and read it over 6 months\, periodically checking in at regular meetings. In the end\, we’ll have a separate stand-alone meeting to discuss that book. The book is Haruki Marukami’s “1Q84.” The challenge read runs from January to June\, and we’ll meet on July 14. There will be a separate posting for the challenge read\, but feel free to e-mail Joe at joefoner1@gmail.com or check the HYP web site for further details.
