SUMMARY:HYP Book Club – “At Home”
DESCRIPTION:Bill Bryson has done everything from philosophizing about life to discussing the history of the universe to travel shows on PBS.  In his recent-ish modern-day classic\, “At Home\,” he sets his endlessly curious mind and meticulous\, sidetrack-filled storytelling methods to an examination of how world events have contributed to the everyday mundane things and rooms we take for granted in our home.  Ever wonder why salt and pepper are the two spices everyone has on their dining room table? If so\, this is your book. We meet in the back room (behind the children’s section) of the Midtown Scholar. Please RSVP and/or send questions to Joe Foner at joefoner1@gmail.com.  See you there\, and happy reading!

SUMMARY:HYP Children’s Holiday Party
DESCRIPTION:Come to celebrate the holidays with the HYP students during our Children’s Holiday Party! Every year\, HYP hosts a party to celebrate the students that we worked with throughout the year during Refresh Harrisburg and Junior Sports. This year\, we’re inviting our students to come to watch a special movie screening of a holiday favorite about an elf and eat pizza at Midtown Cinema. \nWe’re looking for volunteers to help out at the event.  PA Child Abuse Clearance and Criminal Record Report is needed for this event.   \nPlease email Outreach@hyp.org to sign up to volunteer and for information on how to obtain a clearance. \n  \nEvent Fundraiser: \nWe are asking for donations to help the Outreach Committee cover the costs of renting the facility\, food and drinks\, and purchasing gifts for the children attending the party. Our goal is $800\, and each donation will go directly to Harrisburg Young Professionals for charitable use only. If you would like to help make this year’s Children’s Holiday Party a success for our students\, please consider donating to this fundraiser! \nDonate with PayPal Giving Fund
