The 10th Annual Date Auction will take place at Level 2 in downtown Harrisburg on Friday\, November 2nd. Doors open at 6:30 pm with the live auction starting at 7:30 pm. This year the auction will benefit HYP’s Emerging Philanthropist Program and Harrisburg Young Professional’s Charity Efforts. The auction will also star Klock Entertainment in the DJ booth playing the latest and greatest hits. Join us for a glamorous night that you will not want to miss! \nTickets will be available beginning September 24th for only $20. Cash and credit cards will be accepted at the door for entry and bidding. \nThe Emerging Philanthropist Program (EPP) seeks to engage Harrisburg’s emerging business and community leaders with the great possibilities that lie within philanthropic endeavors in our region. Each year the program awards $5\,000 to a nonprofit serving the Harrisburg community. DESCRIPTION:This is a free Latin dance open house event\, with instruction and music/DJ provided by Leonetti Entertainment (Jenn Mercado and Ben Heikenfeld)\, that will take place at Club XL. The interactive event will feature an hour of instructional demonstrations and step-by-step walkthroughs of Latin dances\, ranging from salsa and bachata to tango and merengue\, followed by an hour of free dance. SUMMARY:HYP Book Club: Movie and Book discussion – “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”
DESCRIPTION:You’ve probably heard of the Millenium series by Stieg Larssen (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”); Larssen had planned more novels but died after the third one\, and the series was picked up by the publisher’s and family’s choice\, David Lagercrantz.  There’s an upcoming film starring Claire Foy\, so it’s an opportunity to compare the book and movie. It’s also a chance to dig back into the series.  \nWe’ll meet at the Harrisburg East Mall Regal Cinema at the show closest to noon. Be sure to check the event page on facebook for updates or theater website for times; there’ll be confirmation for those who RSVP in time. Want to help fulfill someone’s dream of having their own home? \nJoin the Outreach Committee for another work site day volunteering time with Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area. No specific skills or construction expertise needed. Materials and guidance will be provided by Habitat for Humanity and they will match you with a job based on your skill set day of the event. Before attending the event\, a volunteer form\, waiver\, and online volunteer safety course need to be completed. \nVolunteers will meet at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 800 Paxton St. at 8:15 am and carpool to the work site for the day.
