HARRISBURG YOUNG PROFESSIONALS ANNOUNCES COVID-19 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND
HYP Aims to Help Professionals Most Impacted By the Pandemic 

HARRISBURG, Pa. (April 2021) – Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) is offering free one-year HYP memberships to young professionals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

HYP leaders established the COVID-19 Professional Development Fund so young professionals looking to expand their networks could do so without financial burden. 

“HYP is a place where people sharpen their professional skills and develop relationships that often translate into new career opportunities,” HYP President Sydney Kyler said. “We hope to facilitate this connection and provide a supportive and welcoming community to those who need a networking boost.” 

Any young professional who has experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19 qualifies for the Professional Development Fund. 

“We designed the application to be as simple and inclusive as possible,” Kyler explained. 

To apply for the free membership, applicants can take the following steps: ● Visit hyp.cogran.com 

Those who join HYP can participate in professional development events, volunteer opportunities, outdoor and entertainment activities, and more throughout Harrisburg. 

In addition, HYP members gain access to exclusive discounts with partner businesses in the Harrisburg area. 

The COVID-19 Professional Development Fund was made possible by donors in the community. 

“We are grateful to the generous donors who have made it possible for HYP to offer these free annual memberships,” Kyler reflected.

Harrisburg Young Professionals 2021 Annual Meeting

HARRISBURG, Pa. (2/25/21) – On February 22, 2021, Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) hosted its annual meeting virtually to share the organization’s 2020 successes and 2021 plans. Keynote speaker Jeannine Peterson of Hamilton Health Center spoke to attendees about the importance of overcoming challenges, specifically those presented by COVID-19.

“This situation will pass. We will come through this stronger than we ever were before,” Peterson said.

Joe Massaro of Hilton Harrisburg also addressed attendees and expressed that HYP can help the Harrisburg community through difficult times.

“Let’s continue to be creative virtually while we need to,” Massaro said.

A significant portion of the Annual Meeting recognized partners and community leaders who impacted the development and improvement of the city of Harrisburg.

Awards Presented included:

– Female Athlete of the Year: Lauren Kraynack
– Male Athlete of the Year: Brian Bustos
– Member of the Year: Amy Moore Bennetch
– Community Engagement Award: Wildheart Ministries
– Project of the Year: Harrisburg University and the late Dr. Charles “Chip” Shearrow
– Business of the Year: andculture
– 2020 President’s Award: Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC 

Harrisburg Young Professionals also shared their vision for 2021, the organization’s 23rd year.

HYP President Sydney Kyler acknowledged the challenges presented by COVID-19 and the need to come together as a community.

“The pandemic has reminded us of the importance of connection,” Kyler said. “We’re built to be together, to work together, to enjoy together.”

The organization also announced a new initiative to help young professionals impacted by COVID-19. The COVID-19 Professional Development Fund serves to provide free annual HYP memberships throughout 2021 to help those affected by the pandemic.

HARRISBURG YOUNG PROFESSIONALS ANNOUNCES 2021 NEW LEADERSHIP
Young Professionals Continue Commitment to Improving the City of Harrisburg 

HARRISBURG, Pa. (January 2021) – Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP), 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation, announced the election of Sydney Kyler as President of the organization in 2021. 

Sydney’s involvement in Harrisburg Young Professionals has included numerous volunteer and leadership roles, supplemented with multiple seasons as an athlete in the HYP dodgeball league since 2013. Sydney served as co-chair of the Arts & International Committee in 2017. In her role as co-chair, Sydney aimed to highlight the vibrant art community in Harrisburg through a variety of programs that featured local businesses and events. 

Sydney joined the HYP Executive Board as Treasurer in 2019 and made it her mission to empower other members to grow as leaders. In addition to her current role as HYP President, she currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at Enders. 

“I feel a significant responsibility to set a positive example,” Kyler said. “We work to keep young professionals in Harrisburg, keep them engaged, and to develop future leaders. Our board and leadership team are a prime example of how this can be done. Now more than ever, HYP is a vital source of professional development and connection for our leadership team, our members, and our community. We are focused on being a steadfast partner to the Harrisburg community through the pandemic and into the future.”

The event is free to attend, but registration is required and donations are encouraged if you are able to contribute. All proceeds support HYP and the Emerging Philanthropist Program. This year’s event is sponsored by Members 1st Federal Credit Union, Hershey’s Ice Cream and Startup Harrisburg.
