HARRISBURG, Pa. (2/5/24) – On January 31, 2024, Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) hosted its Annual Meeting and Awards Night. The annual event serves as a celebration of the organization’s achievements, the dedication of its members, and the positive impact that is being made in the Harrisburg community. It is a yearly opportunity to reflect on the past year’s successes and inspire continued collaboration for the betterment of the community. Guest speaker, Downtown Daily Bread Executive Director Corrie Lingenfelter spoke to attendees about the importance of overcoming challenges, breaking barriers and creating impactful change in the city of Harrisburg.

“Your journey is uniquely yours, and each twist and turn holds the potential for growth and transformation. Embrace your challenges as opportunities, draw strength from your experiences, and never underestimate the impact you can make, both in your professional and personal spheres”, Lingenfelter said.

A significant portion of the Annual Meeting recognized partners and community leaders who impacted the development and improvement of the city of Harrisburg.

Harrisburg Young Professionals also shared their vision for 2024, the organization’s 26th year. HYP President Iqbal Singh talked about his vision for the year ahead.

“… I envision a year filled with collaboration, innovation, and meaningful connections.  Together, we’ll foster an environment that empowers each member to thrive, contribute, and make a lasting impact on Harrisburg and beyond.”

HARRISBURG, Pa. (December 27, 2023) – Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) is excited to announce their 2024 Executive slate!

HYP’s Leadership consists of committee co chairs and a board of directors, including a five person executive team working alongside their Executive Director. With much excitement, HYP elected Iqbal Singh as President for 2024. Iqbal is currently Vice President and C&I Relationship Manager at Orrstown Bank in Harrisburg. He has been a member of HYP since 2021, was co Vice President in 2023 and Treasurer in 2022.

Olivia Edwards Rindfuss, current HYP president, says “As a non-profit board leader, he is forward-thinking and of a growth mindset. As a parent, colleague, and teammate, Iqbal encourages all to meet challenges with heart. Iqbal is a positive and highly effective leader who has already left an indelible mark on HYP. I cannot wait to see what is in store for 2024!”

Along with Iqbal, the following Executive Board Members will begin their terms on January 1, 2024:

Treasurer – Peter Megoulas, Business Loan Account Manager at Members 1st Federal Credit Union
Secretary – Trooper Kelly Smith, Community Engagement Officer with the Pennsylvania State Police

Iqbal is excited for this new chapter saying, “I am honored and thrilled to serve as the President of Harrisburg Young Professionals.  Together with our board and dedicated members, I am committed to building on the organization’s legacy and ensuring that HYP remains a vital force in our community.”

HARRISBURG, Pa. (11/14/23) – On Wednesday, November 8th Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) celebrated its 5th annual 20 in Their 20s award night at the Hilton Harrisburg honoring 20 rising professionals in Central PA. Honorees were selected in July 2023 from over 40 submissions. These young leaders from industry, culture, and civic life are making a meaningful impact in their communities and workplaces.

In addition to celebrating 20 of Harrisburg’s exceptional young leaders at the event, HYP also announced its 2023 Executive Board and incoming President, Iqbal Singh. Iqbal is the Vice President and C&I Relationship Manager at Orrstown Bank. Iqbal served as HYP’s Vice President in 2023 and Treasurer in 2022.

All proceeds from the 20 In Their 20’s awards ceremony support HYP annual programming. This year’s event was presented by Members 1st Federal Credit Union. The event was also supported by The Hershey Company, Deloitte Consulting, UPMC, Harrisburg Hilton, TFEC, GSL Public Strategies, Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, Pursuit Coworking, Miller Dixon Drake, York College of Pennsylvania, TheBurg and Klock Entertainment.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (09/28/2023) –  This year saw the largest of Harrisburg Young Professionals’ (HYP) iconic event: Home Tour. With nearly 40 homes and businesses featured, attendees were able to experience the very best of city living and the wonderful historical elements of the Midtown neighborhood.

President Olivia Edwards Rindfuss states, “HYP’s 23rd Annual Home Tour highlights HYP’s longstanding commitment to revitalizing Harrisburg through community building. This event is truly special, as we share neighborly hospitality and appreciation for each unique home and business.” City Living Co-Chair Alyssa Tofani states, “Home Tour is a wonderful opportunity for members of our community to explore their own backyards! Each home contains its own charm, character, and history that proves how beautiful and unique our city really is. It is an honor to help facilitate this iconic event and be a part of HYP!” 

Sponsored by Midtown Property Management, Home Tour raises funds to support HYP’s Home in the City Program. This grant program was created as a joint venture between HYP, Harrisburg 2020, and the Harrisburg Chamber & CREDC. Proceeds from the event, as well as donations from local business leaders, provide $1,000 grants to first-time home buyers in the city of Harrisburg. The Midtown Home Tour raised 14K for the grant program this year. To date, the organization has granted $85,000 to HYP Members throughout the City of Harrisburg. 

HYP has awarded two grants in 2023 thus far, with rolling applications accepted through the end of the calendar year. The organization also hosts first-time homebuying seminars to educate young people about the unique benefits of being a homeowner in the city. HYP will continue to highlight cornerstones of city living, further bolstering our mission to recruit and retain young professionals in Harrisburg.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (09/26/2023) –  On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) joined Sprocket Mural Works and several community partners to unveil an expansive, new mural on N. 3rd and Cumberland Streets in Midtown Harrisburg. 

HYP was thrilled to work in collaboration with Sprocket Mural Works and artist, Suzanne Rende, to sponsor Harrisburg’s newest public mural, which brings bountiful blooms, pops of color, and whimsical garden creatures to Midtown Harrisburg.

The expansive mural was commissioned by local art organization, Sprocket Mural Works, who secured Central Pennsylvania artist Suzanne Rende. Rende’s masterpiece was inspired by her own garden, including winding vines of vivacious blooms, plump berries, a monarch butterfly, and bumblebee. It adorns the side wall of a mixed-use’ building owned by WCI Partners. The mural marks the 16th project along Harrisburg’s Mural Mile, stretching down the Third Street corridor in Harrisburg.

HYP gifted this mural in honor of 25 years of missional service to the City of Harrisburg. It is a lasting tribute to the life cycle of young professionals, symbolizing the growth and flourishing of those who plant roots and tend to their communities. HYP encourages its members to take an active role in making Harrisburg a better place to live, work and play. 

HYP President Olivia Edwards Rindfuss noted, “the mural brings a sense of optimism and joy to the community. We hope this beautiful space will continue to encourage young people to think of Harrisburg as a vibrant and inviting place to live, work and play.”

This project was made possible through the support of HYP’s partners and a generous grant from the Dauphin County Redevelopment Authority.
